The Daring Way™ changes 2026

The Daring Way® – What’s Changed and How I Offer This Work

You may have heard that The Daring Way®, based on the research of Brené Brown, has recently changed how it is offered worldwide. I wanted to clearly explain what this means for you, and how I continue to offer this work in my practice.

What is The Daring Way®?

The Daring Way® is a structured, experiential program based on decades of research into vulnerability, shame, courage, empathy and wholehearted living. It is personal growth work rather than therapy or professional training, and it is designed to support deeper self-understanding, emotional resilience and more authentic relationships.

What has changed?

From January 2026, The Daring Way® has moved to an independent practitioner model. This means:

  • Facilitators are no longer overseen by a central organisation

  • The work is now offered with greater professional autonomy and responsibility

  • The focus is firmly on personal exploration, not certification or continuing education

  • Facilitators teach the material directly (there are no curriculum videos)

You may also notice a small change in language: facilitators are now described as Daring Way® Trained Facilitators, rather than “certified”.

What has not changed?

Importantly, the heart of the work remains the same.

  • The curriculum content itself has not been altered

  • The work is still grounded in Brené Brown’s original research

  • It remains experiential, relational and reflective

  • Group processes, practices and core concepts are unchanged

The integrity of the work is carefully protected, and the curriculum must be delivered as written.

How I offer The Daring Way®

I offer The Daring Way® in a way that is consistent with the updated guidelines and aligned with my clinical values.

  • Small groups or individual sessions

  • A paced, trauma-informed approach

  • Clear boundaries between therapy and personal development work

  • Emphasis on safety, choice, embodiment and reflection

  • No recording of sessions, and strict confidentiality

This work is not offered inside organisations, does not provide professional accreditation, and is not a substitute for psychotherapy — though many people find it deeply complementary to their therapeutic work.

Is this right for me?

The Daring Way® may be a good fit if you are wanting to:

  • Explore patterns of shame, self-criticism or perfectionism

  • Build greater emotional resilience

  • Strengthen connection with yourself and others

  • Develop more courage around vulnerability and boundaries

  • Engage in thoughtful, supported personal growth

If you’re unsure whether this work is appropriate for you at this time, I’m very happy to talk it through.
